The Transport Department (TD) today (January 19) said that, to provide travel convenience for Tai Po residents, KMB route No. 71K (Tai Po Market Station – Tai Po (Tai Wo)) will resume en-route stops outside Kwong Fuk Market and Kwong Fuk Commercial Centre, starting with the first departure tomorrow (January 20).
A spokesman for the TD said that, due to the follow-up work on the fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, the section of Plover Cove Road between Kwong Fuk Market and Kwong Wang Street, as well as Kwong Wang Street, have remained closed. Franchised bus routes that operate along these road sections remain diverted. After co-ordination and without impeding the follow-up work, KMB route No. 71K will resume the en-route stops outside Kwong Fuk Market and Kwong Fuk Commercial Centre, providing convenience for Kwong Fuk Estate residents in their daily travel, including to and from MTR Tai Po Market Station and Tai Wo Station for transfer to railway services, Tai Po Hui Market, Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Tai Po Government Offices.
In addition, to further facilitate their daily commute, the TD is planning to temporarily relocate the urban and New Territories taxi stands outside Kwong Fuk Market and Kwong Fuk Commercial Centre, which have been suspended to date, to the lay-by on Plover Cove Road near the entrance to Kwong Fuk Car Park. They will be commissioned upon the target completion of the related works by end-January.
The public may check the franchised bus operators’ website or mobile application for the latest route information and follow the latest traffic news via radio and TV broadcasts, the TD’s website (www.td.gov.hk) and the HKeMobility mobile application before starting their journeys.
