The newly installed lifts are not functioning effectively at the new Clinical Block of Queen Mary Hospital. Chief Executive John Lee said the problems need to be rectified very quickly, the Development Bureau has given him a preliminary briefing and he has asked the Bureau to thoroughly investigate the matter and report within a month.
Speaking before the Executive Council meeting, Mr Lee stressed that the Government need to identify where and whether the system has any inadequacies and rectify them.
“We will pursue accountability, including contractors, subcontractors, engineering personnel and professionals. And if there are government personnel involved, we will pursue their accountability as well.”
He said medical services are very important and the new clinical block must be opened for service as soon as possible.
