4.19 We will strengthen co-operation between Hong Kong’s higher education institutions and those in other Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cities by establishing cross-disciplinary partnerships, facilitating scientific research, knowledge transfer, and commercialisation, with a view to promoting high-level research. We will continue to support Hong Kong’s higher education institutions in forming alliances with their counterparts in the Mainland, and enhance the level of joint talent cultivation and exchanges between Guangdong and Hong Kong, fostering effective industry-academia research collaboration between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Table 30 Active Participation in the Work of International Organisations4.35 We will organise high-level international conferences and forums to strengthen our global influence. More regional and global conferences and forums will be held, bringing together political and business leaders, experts, and scholars from different countries with a view to fostering exchanges and telling good stories of China and Hong Kong. The Belt and Road Summit has been hosted successfully in Hong Kong for many years, and has become an important platform for economic and trade co-operation connecting the Belt and Road Initiative partner countries. We will strive to regularise or host more international mega events in various fields such as finance, I&T, green development, and healthcare, etc., so as to attract global representatives to visit Hong Kong and better understand the development achievements, policy opportunities, and business environments of our country and our city. Meanwhile, we will support Mainland enterprises in tapping into international markets through these international conferences and forums held in Hong Kong.

4.36 We will leverage Hong Kong’s international arts exhibitions, cultural festivals, theatre performances, as well as films and music platforms to systematically facilitate Chinese culture to go global, and promote the core values of Chinese culture through high-quality arts and cultural works.

4.38 We will deeply participate in the high-quality Belt and Road co-operation. We will make full use of our diverse and internationally recognised professional service resources and experiences, attracting and allocating capital, enterprises, projects, talent, technologies, rules and standards, so as to solidify Hong Kong’s status as the premier partner and a hub for multilateral co-operation for the Belt and Road Initiative partner countries. We will provide financing, project management, and risk management services for areas such as urban development, transport network, ports, airports, and energy, etc. for the Belt and Road Initiative partner countries, and will support the implementation of green infrastructure and sustainable development projects. Riding on actual projects, we will facilitate the participation by Hong Kong enterprises and professionals in relevant collaboration projects with the Belt and Road Initiative partner countries, with a view to achieving more pragmatic and sustainable outcomes.Issued at HKT 11:52
